Visit to Quinta de São José – Bucelas Portugal
On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, the Association Architecture et Patrimoine Maçonniques AAPM, in close collaboration with the Grande Loja Nacional Portuguesa GLNP and the Associação Cultural Muralha Sapientia ACMS, organised a visit to Quinta de São José in Bucelas.
The event began at 10:00 and ended at 17:00. It comprised several moments and varied participation. Visitors were welcomed gradually, forming small groups that walked around the Quinta, discovering its history, its symbolism, and the various corners and features of the property.
There was an outdoor lunch with a tasting of local wines, as Bucelas is a wine-producing region, together with typical meats and cured sausages. Inside the house, visitors were shown both the evident and less obvious architectural details, as well as the Masonic Temple within it, including the Hall of Lost Steps and the Library. The photographic record that follows illustrates the day and the experience enjoyed, combining gastronomy with knowledge of the material elements of Masonic symbolic significance present in the architecture of this magnificent place

AAPM, GLNP and ACMS thank everyone for their presence and participation. Without the visitors, the true driving force behind the Heritage Days, the event would not have been able to fulfil its objectives: to discover, promote and protect European Architectural Heritage in Portugal.
