Another new site to discover along the Masonic Architecture and Heritage Routes: the Temple of Poitiers. Largely Egyptophile—since it originally followed the Memphis-Misraïm rite—the decor of this temple was inspired by discoveries from Napoleon’s Egyptian Campaign. For this reason, the temple’s decorations are entirely influenced by Pharaonic Egypt as it was envisioned and understood in the time of Jean-François Champollion, himself a Freemason who was initiated in Grenoble. The site is open to a wide public.
